2024 was transformative for Itron and our customers, marked by exciting achievements and significant milestones. This year, we unveiled our refreshed brand, which reflects the company’s evolution and new era of Grid Edge Intelligence, strategic partnerships and innovative product launches—all designed to help our customers navigate pressing challenges and embrace new opportunities.  Keep reading for more highlights from our year.

Our customers’ successes are integral to ours. Below are some of their most notable achievements in 2024.

What matters to utilities and cities matters to us. That’s why we prioritized sharing key insights, best practices and emerging trends throughout the year. Here are a few examples.

  • Launching a Refreshed Brand and New Website: Aligned with Itron’s refreshed brand identity and our focus on delivering Grid Edge Intelligence, the updated global website provides a more intuitive experience that helps visitors quickly understand who we are, what we do and the value we deliver.
  • Advancing Toward a More Resourceful World: Sustainability and environmental, social and governance practices are at the core of our strategy and mission. Released in June, Itron's Corporate Sustainability Report outlines how we empower both our customers and ourselves to be more efficient and sustainable.
  • Exploring the Role of AI in Utilities: At our customer-focused event, Itron Inspire, I presented key findings from our Resourcefulness Insight Report, Exploring AI for Utilities: The Promise and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence. Based on insights from 600 gas and electric utility executives across six countries, the report explores how artificial intelligence and machine learning are reshaping the future of utilities.

Throughout 2024, Itron continued to push the envelope with new product innovations. Here are some of the key solutions we launched.

  • Bringing Intelligence to the Edge: Earlier this year, we launched our Grid Edge Intelligence portfolio, providing utilities with unprecedented visibility and control at the grid edge all the way to the substation.
  • Introducing CityEdge: The team unveiled the CityEdge portfolio, a suite of smart city solutions designed to streamline operations and improve quality of life for urban communities.
  • Delivering Data-Driven Resilience: We launched our advanced Low Voltage Distributed Energy Resource Management System (LV DERMS) to the Australian market, designed to help utilities optimize and manage the growing number of distributed energy resources.

Collaboration is essential to driving meaningful progress. Keep reading for insight into a few of the many strategic partnerships we formed throughout the year.

  • Modernizing Grid Management: Our collaboration with Schneider Electric enables customers to digitalize and optimize both electricity demand and supply for a more resilient grid.
  • Making the Most of Data: Together, Itron and GE Vernova are helping utilities around the world employ grid data to operate and orchestrate the distribution grid in real time, enabling a more reliable grid.
  • Enabling EV Fleet Electrification: We launched the first-of-its-kind program with The Mobility House, helping utilities and grid operators address interconnection delays and infrastructure challenges associated with electric vehicle fleet electrification.
  • Pinpointing Water Pipe Failures: We’re working with VODA.ai to simplify how water utilities identify and predict which pipe assets need to be replaced, rehabilitated or contain lead.

Itron was thrilled to receive several awards in 2024, reinforcing the impact and global reach of our efforts. Three of them are highlighted below.

A sincere thank you to our customers, partners and colleagues for making 2024 one of the best years yet. Together, we overcame challenges, uncovered solutions and helped make a positive impact in communities worldwide. As we step into 2025, we look forward to building on this momentum and continuing our collective journey of creating a more resourceful world.
