Scott Martin is a seasoned utility industry expert and<br />SMUD’s Chief Financial Officer after serving as SMUD’s<br />Chief Strategy Officer for 3 years. Scott now leads<br />SMUD’s Finance & Strategy functions, which includes<br />Planning & Pricing, Treasury & Commodity Risk<br />Management, Accounting, Payroll, Enterprise Strategy &<br />Risk and Enterprise Prioritization & Performance.<br /><br />As CFO, Scott is responsible for setting financial and<br />organization wide strategy and ensuring SMUD<br />maintains strong financial health and credit ratings.<br />Scott also leads the teams responsible for setting<br />enterprise-wide strategies to achieve SMUD’s ambitious<br />goal of eliminating carbon emissions by 2030, while<br />maintaining reliability and affordable rates.<br /><br />Scott has been with SMUD for 23 years. Before<br />becoming Chief Financial Officer in 2024, Scott was<br />SMUD’s Chief Strategy Officer, as well as the director of<br />Resource Strategy and New Business Development.<br />Through his senior leadership positions at SMUD, Scott<br />has led SMUD’s commodity price risk management and<br />commodity budgeting, resource planning, resource<br />strategy, retail pricing, customer programs, short term<br />and long-term financial planning, resource development<br />and strategic planning. Scott is on the Boards of the UC<br />Davis Energy and Efficiency Institute and the<br />Sacramento Native American Health Center.<br /><br />Scott received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics<br />from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master<br />of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of<br />Nevada, Las Vegas.
