NVIDIA GTC: The Future of Grid Resiliency Through AI-Driven Edge Intelligence
The modern power grid faces increasing challenges, including integrating variable renewable energy sources, escalating demand driven by electrification and data centers, and a growing threat of extreme weather events and cyberattacks. Achieving true grid resiliency is the ability to withstand, respond to, and rapidly recover from major disruptions, which necessitates a shift toward a more intelligent and adaptable infrastructure. This session will explore AI-driven edge intelligence—leveraging localized processing and decision-making capabilities at the periphery of the network (near sensors and devices)—which offers numerous advantages over centralized cloud-based systems for grid management. These benefits include reduced latency for real-time decision-making, enhanced data security and privacy by keeping sensitive information within local networks, and decreased bandwidth requirements. This session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29th, 2:00 PM - 2:40 PM
Panelists:
- Adnan Chaudhry, SVP, Digital Grid, Siemens Energy
- Morgan Scott, VP, Global Partnerships and Outreach, EPRI
