Utility Industry Assembles in San Antonio for Annual Itron Utility Week to Discuss Resourcefulness
Premier industry event tackles industry issues and fosters collaboration among leading utilities
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Oct. 16, 2014 — Itron Utility Week is the utility industry's premier customer-focused event providing Itron customers, partners and industry leaders with an opportunity to learn, collaborate and drive better management of energy and water resources. This event brings together nearly 1,000 industry experts from some of the largest utility companies to talk about trends and challenges. This year, the conference is focused on how utilities are putting their resourcefulness in action to improve their organizations and communities.

Who: Keynote speakers at Itron Utility Week include:
• Scott Klososky, technology expert, Achieving Humalogy: The perfect blend of technology and humanity in your business model. Klososky will provide an overview of a handful of new technology concepts that can be leveraged in the utility space, while also sharing the concept of Humalogy — finding the best blending of technology and humanity in all the processes used by a utility — from building customer relationships to operational processes.

• Itron Cloud — Customer Experience: An Itron gas customer will discuss its decision to use Itron Total AMI to run, manage and maintain its gas metering system while highlighting the economic and operational benefits of hosting its applications in the Itron Cloud.
• Smart Grid Leads to Smart Cities — The Impacts of the Grid on Urban Sustainability: This session features discussion around the relevance of the smart grid for smart cities and how the convergence of energy and water with advanced communication technology serves as one of its most critical components.
• Real World Experiences with Home Area Network Applications: As a part of a smart grid pilot, one customer is leveraging home area network devices for demand response (DR). In this session, you'll learn about experiences in implementing DR on the customer side of the meter, including lessons learned and preliminary results.
• Edge Connectivity for the Internet of Things: The Internet of Things (IoT) will connect 50 billion devices by 2020, generating $19 trillion in value. The sensors connecting these devices will generate real-time data to be analyzed in the Cloud. Reliable connectivity will be a must, no matter what the environment, sensor type or use. This session introduces a system for high-performance connectivity combining multiple communications paths.
