Itron Named the Leader in Utility Field Area Networking (FAN)
Navigant Research Places Itron in the Strongest Position for Long-term Success in the FAN Market
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — March 27, 2019 — Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), which is innovating the way utilities and cities manage energy and water, announced today that it has been named the Leader in the Navigant Research Leaderboard for Utility Field Area Networking (FAN). Of the 13 companies included on the leaderboard, Itron was the only company ranked in the Leader category for grid edge connectivity providers.
The report evaluated the vision, strategy and execution of FAN providers based on their participation in the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) or Distribution Automation (DA) networking markets for power utilities. Vendors in the Leader category have exceptional market share, strong partner relationships and a sustainable business model. Leaders also demonstrated vision and success in leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology to support multiple applications for a broad range of smart utility and smart city solutions.
“Itron was recognized as a leader because of its global reach, technological innovation, ability to deliver and its strong strategic alliances,” said Richelle Elberg, principal research analyst at Navigant Research. “Leaders in the FAN market are enjoying large project wins and are proactively broadening their technology and solution offering portfolios.”
“As the largest and most successful utility FAN vendor worldwide, we have deployed more than 200 million connected devices from smart meters to battery modules to streetlights and DA endpoints,” said Sharelynn Moore, senior vice president of Networked Solutions at Itron. “We are proud to be recognized as the Leader in FAN networking by Navigant Research and feel that this recognition affirms our commitment to safely and reliably deliver proven results to utilities and cities around the world.”
