Itron Introduces Intelligent Static Flow Meter for Thermal Energy C&I Applications
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.—March 19, 2015—Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that it has expanded its thermal energy metering portfolio into a new industry segment with its new static flow meter for thermal energy commercial and industrial (C&I) applications. The ITRON AXONIC™ meter is a cutting-edge static ultrasonic flow meter designed to meet the needs of district heating and cooling applications with self-diagnostic intelligence and advanced features and functionality. The meter will be marketed globally.
In combination with a connected Itron thermal energy calculator, the ultrasonic static flow meter features intelligent diagnostic functions to control and optimize the entire thermal energy system. The meter continually monitors operating conditions and, in the case of abnormal conditions such as back-flow or air in the pipe, sends a warning to the utility by SMS or e-mail using Itron's mobile or fixed network solutions.
The Itron Axonic meter features the highest temperature and pressure ratings available and helps protect the revenue of district heating and cooling companies with exceptional performance, including highly accurate measurement and long-term reliability. Featuring two output ports, the meter also provides the option to add a second device, such as a heat control system or backflow monitor.
The meter is easy to install thanks to an innovative mobile flange design and the ability to be installed in any position. In addition, the meter is designed with specific insulation characteristics to avoid unnecessary energy losses.
