(NASDAQ: ITRI) today announced that its solar cellular-based monitoring solution is being utilized by more than 50,000 homes and businesses through leading solar providers. Itron's solar offering is ideal for monitoring and net metering the energy production of residential and commercial solar photovoltaic systems. This milestone establishes Itron as the leading provider of revenue-grade solar net metering service in North America.

Itron's solar offering, which includes Itron's solar meter embedded with a cellular communications module and Itron Managed Services for hosting, provides an accurate, reliable way to measure and manage solar production data, which is often distributed across a wide geographic area. The meters leverage secure and simple cellular communication networks. Installation is simply "plug and play" with streamlined activation. Itron's solar solution also includes Itron Managed Services for ongoing monitoring of production data, simplifying deployment and lowering the overall total cost of ownership for solar providers.
