Itron and Trilliant Partner to Deliver Energy Management Solution for Dominican Republic Utility

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash and REDWOOD CITY, CA.—October 31, 2011—Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a leading provider of energy and water resource management solutions, and Trilliant, a global smart grid communications leader, announced today that the Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies selected Itron's data management system and electricity meters and Trilliant's communications system for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in the Dominican Republic. The fully integrated solution will help the Dominican Republic-based utility improve meter reading accuracy and enhance service for its large customers.

The award was made by the Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies (Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales - CDEEE), the holding company that manages the transmission and distribution companies EdeNorte, EdeSur and EdeEste.

The partners are providing the SENTINEL® CellReader®, an under-the-glass communication solution that discourages tampering. CellReader technology will provide two-way communications between Itron's SENTINEL C&I meters and Itron's industry-leading C&I data management system. In addition, Trilliant and Itron will deploy the system and provide support and on-site training services during meter installation.
