Derek’s career has spanned over 28 years within the utilities industry sector from systems development and consulting to business analysis support, and large systems and technology deployments. He has extensive experience in utilities back-office systems from an implementation and support perspective. Core meter-to-cash systems are his current focus spanning Meter Head-End systems, Meter Data Management, Billing and Analytics. Derek started his career with Andersen Consulting (Accenture), working with an array of US and Global utilities. He continued his consulting focus with Wipro Technologies and Centric Consulting, then transitioning to a role as an Engagement Manager with Silver Spring Networks and Itron. Derek has participated in numerous large scale AMI metering deployments and has continued to support both AMI and non-AMI projects since joining American Electric Power in 2020. Derek attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA and has an MBA from The Ohio State University. He resides in Columbus, OH with his wife and two sons. Derek has a passion for giving back to his local community and serves as the President of New Albany Ohio Little League.
