American Municipal Power Selects Silver Spring Networks for Advanced Metering
Multi-Application Platform and Services to Provide Advanced Smart Grid Capabilities For Public Power Customers
San Jose, CA – June 20, 2016 – Silver Spring Networks, Inc. (NYSE: SSNI) today announced that it has been selected by American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) for an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) program. AMP is a non-profit wholesale power supplier and services provider for 133 municipal electric utilities in nine states. Collectively, AMP members serve more than 645,000 customers. For the initial phase, Silver Spring will deploy its standards-based IPv6 network platform and solutions to AMP to help its member municipalities provide better customer experience and service for 60,000 electric and 30,000 water customers. Additionally, Silver Spring will deliver SilverLink Control Platform and SilverLink Applications through Software-as-a-Service to help with rapid implementation, to minimize deployment risk, and to reduce the total cost of ownership.

The AMP program will be under the oversight of Branndon Kelley, AMP’s CIO. The team will include:

Silver Spring’s IPv6 platform and solutions offer public power customers the network flexibility to add new participants, from commercial and industrial (C&I) customers to an entire residential block, regardless of the customer type or their location within a service territory. With over 24.3 million devices delivered, Silver Spring delivers advanced technology for smart grid and smart city programs for municipal and cooperative utilities such as Choptank Electric Cooperative, City Utilities of Springfield, CPS Energy, Modesto Irrigation District, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and Snohomish County Public Utility District.
